A short time later, the man entered her residence from the second storey balcony and stole her wallet, two cell phones and a pair of shoes. He then fled the apartment. Police were contacted but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. In the days that followed, the suspect allegedly sent the victim threatening text messages.
A 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with breaking and entering, theft, three counts of breaching probation, and four counts of uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
