Man arrested in Human Trafficking investigation, Jemaal Wilson, 20, Police believe there may be more victims, Photograph released

On Thursday, April 16, 2015, the Toronto Police Service Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into a Human Trafficking occurrence.

It is alleged that:

– a 17-year-old girl was forced into the sex-trade industry when she was 15

– she was transported from hotel room to hotel room within the GTA and was forced to work in the sex trade for approximately 16 months

– the woman was forced to hand over her earnings

On Monday, April 20, 2015, Jemaal Wilson, 20, of no fixed address, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) Trafficking in Persons (Under 18 years)

2) Material Benefit (Under 18 years)

3) Withholding or Destroying Documents

4) Exercise control of person for prostitution

5) Material Benefit from Sexual Services (Under 18 years)

6) Assault

7) Uttering Threats/Death or Bodily Harm

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

Police believe there may be more victims.
