The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On December 9, 2013 around 11:50 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious vehicle in front of an apartment building on Little Street North in Blenheim. A query of the licence plates revealed that they were not registered to the proper vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop, however the driver sped away. The officer followed the vehicle until the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle on Snow Avenue and fled on foot. The men were located on English Street and arrested for failing to stop for police. They were both charged and released from custody with conditions pending a future court date.
On January 21, 2014, the passenger failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was also charged with breaching his probation order.
Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police located the man on St. Clair Street in Chatham and he was arrested. The 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
