Shortly before 6:00 p.m. last night, police were called to Park Avenue East in Chatham in response to an intoxicated person. A citizen called police when she saw an intoxicated man riding a bicycle. The man had beer in his pockets and fell of his bike. He was lying in the grass and unable to walk due to his level of intoxication. An officer arrived and had concerns about the man’s ability to care for himself.
A 46-year-old Chatham man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to police headquarters and held in custody until sober.
