Man Arrested After Slipping Noxious Substance Into Woman’s Drink – Name Released

On August 21, 2016 at 12:10 a.m., the Guelph Police went to an establishment on Woodlawn Road West after staff observed a male put an unknown liquid into a female’s drink. Staff notified the female and contacted police. Police located the man in the bar and he was arrested. A subsequent search discovered a bottle labelled Spanish Fly.

Howard Clemence, 48 years of Grand Valley has been charged with administer noxious substance and possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on September 27, 2016.

The Guelph Police remind you to always protect your drink when you are at a party, bar or any kind of location where you are consuming beverages, never leave your drink unattended. Even if you stand next to it but are turning around to speak to someone, that gives enough time for someone to spike your drink. Pick up your drink and hold it, it’s harder for someone to get to it that way.
