Man Arrested After Sending Text Message Threat

On December 2nd, 2014 an extremely fearful victim called Barrie Police Service because she believed her 44 year old ex-common-law spouse was returning from Alberta to harm her and her children. The victim and accused had separated a week prior. Since the split, the accused called and text the victim numerous times, often with violent undertones. Yesterday, the accused sent a text to the victim stating that he was getting on a plane and returning to Barrie to harm the victim, take the kids and go out with a “bang”.

Through investigation, officers confirmed the accused was flying from Alberta to Toronto. At 6:26am, as the accused was exiting the plane, he was arrested by Peel Regional Police Service. Barrie Police attended Pearson International Airport and took custody of the accused. He was charged with Criminal Harassment and Uttering Threats. He was held for a bail hearing.
