On Thursday June 9, 2016, Waterloo Regional Police responded to a rural property in Woolwich having been advised a resident had been threatened with a handgun. Patrol officers including the Emergency Response Unit attended the property and arrested a 53 year old male without incident. A pellet handgun was recovered at the scene and several long guns were later seized from the his residence. The male was held for a bail hearing facing numerous weapons related charges. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
