On Sunday, March 5, 2017 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police received a report from staff at a Fairway Road South restaurant that a man had been involved in an alleged mischief incident at the restaurant before feeling. Police investigation led officers to an address on Vanier Drive, where it was believed the man broke a window to gain access to his home. The man was believed to be distraught and, despite lengthy negotiations with officers, refused to open the door. Concerned for the well-being of the male, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Emergency Response Team entered the apartment and the male was arrested. The male was transported to hospital to receive treatment for injuries he is believed to have sustained when breaking into his apartment. He was held for a bail hearing. The investigation is continuing.
