Male Spits At Court Officers

On April 12, 2016 at 9:44 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Guelph Courthouse at 36 Wyndham Street South to assist with an in-custody male. It is alleged that the male became upset at being searched and began spitting at officers, striking four of them.

The 29-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with four counts of assault a peace officer. He remains in custody and will appear in bail court on April 13, 2016.

Break and enter

On April 12, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Wilsonview Avenue residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) broke into a storage locker sometime between April 9 and April 11. No theft is reported.

Break and enter

On April 12, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Cole Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the unlocked residence sometime overnight, taking the keys to their motor vehicle and a purse. The culprit(s) then stole their silver Dodge Caravan from the driveway.

Motor vehicle taken – arrest

On April 12, 2016 at 8:45 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Hearn Avenue home to investigate the complaint of a stolen motor vehicle. It is alleged that the vehicles owner became aware that a male known to her had taken her car without her knowledge. Police were called when the male returned with the car. When he was advised he was being arrested he ran from police which led to a short foot pursuit.

The 34-year-old Guelph male has been charged with take motor vehicle without consent, escape lawful custody and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 13, 2016.

Property damage – arrest

On April 12, 2016 the Guelph Police went to a Carden Street apartment building to investigate a property damage complaint. It is alleged that on April 11, a male had entered the building and accessed the fire hose cabinet. He then cut the hose, removed the brass fittings and left. Police were able to identify the man. He was located and arrested.

Robert Sevigny, 51 years of Guelph has been charged with mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. He will appear in court on May 27, 2016.

Shoplifter arrested

On April 12, 2016 at 1:53 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Walmart to assist with a shoplifter. It is alleged that a male removed items from the shelves and left the store without paying. Security called police and followed him. Police located the man who identified with what was discovered to be a false name and he was arrested.

A 41-year-old Guelph man has been charged with theft under $5,000, obstruct police and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 13, 2016.
