On Sunday evening, a 40 year old male attended the south Barrie WalMart on Mapleview Drive. While in the store the male stole a quantity of electronics. The theft was witnessed by the store security officer who then followed the male out of the store. The security officer arrested the male for theft, at this point the male broke free and wrestled with the security officer. The male then ran through the parking lot and across the live lanes of highway 400. The police were called and located the male on Concert Way. He was arrested without incident and taken to the station where he was charged with theft under $5,000.00, assault to resist arrest and fail to comply probation. He was held pending a bail hearing.
