Occurrence #: BA14-059387
Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2014 – 6:00pm
On the 9th of December 2014, Barrie Police were contacted by the Toronto Police Service regarding a 51 year old male who was wanted on an outstanding warrant with the Barrie Police Service from 2001.
In 2001, the accused male was arrested for Possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a controlled substance. He was provided a court date that he failed to attend and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
In 2008, the male was in custody in British Columbia and requested that the Ontario charges be transferred so that he could deal with them. The Crown agreed, sent the charges and advised a penalty that would be agreeable on an admission of guilt. The male refused the penalty and the charges and warrant remained in affect in Ontario.
On December 9th 2014, Toronto Police while investigating the male discovered he was wanted by Barrie Police and determined officers would return on the warrant. The male was returned to Barrie and held for a bail hearing. He now faces the original charges of possession of property, possession of a controlled substance and failing to appear. Two additional charges of failing to comply his undertaking were added as the male was released on conditions in 2001 to remain within the province of Ontario and notify the investigating officer of a change in address. Both of which he failed to comply with.
