(GODERICH, ON) – On August 23rd, 2009 at 12:10 pm, the Huron County OPP received a fraud complaint from the Petro Canada station in the town of Goderich. An investigation conducted by the Huron OPP crime unit determined that the same suspect had also been at the Pharma Plus store, Esso Gas bar and Canadian Tire Gas bar.
All businesses have since been reimbursed for their losses by VISA Canada.
The crime unit investigation culminated on March 11th, 2011 in the arrest of 25 year old Luxsan KANDASAMY of Markham. KANDASAMY is facing 12 counts of Fraud under $5,000 and 12 counts of Use fraudulent credit card. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on April 4th, 2011.
The total value of the fraudulent purchases is estimated to be $7,970.00.
