Lock It Or Lose It

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to receive reports of property thefts from vehicles across the detachment area. These thefts are occurring during the overnight hours from unlocked motor vehicles. In order to help prevent further thefts, the South Bruce OPP is offering the following tips from the Lock it or Lose it initiative:

Always roll up the vehicle’s windows, lock the door and pocket the key
Never leave your vehicle unattended while it’s running
If you have a garage, use it. Lock the vehicle and the garage door.
Never leave your car keys in plain view or easily accessible
Always park in a well lit area
Never leave valuable objects in view. Put them in the trunk

If you see a suspicious vehicle, or a suspicious person, call the police. Provide the best description that you can and remember – the sooner you call, the more likely they’ll still be in the area when officers arrive.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or send a web-tip to crimestop-gb.org, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
