Little Falls Forest School is on the grow with three classrooms participating this year. We now have a kindergarten and two grade 2 classes who learn curriculum outdoors and spend time at our beautiful Outdoor School site near Wildwood Conservation area. Student and parent feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We appreciate the Board providing support for the program, allowing us a second year to explore this unique form of education.
Forest School uses the natural world as a vehicle for learning, enriching and expanding children’s understanding of life cycle, adaptations, and creative problem solving. These engaging lessons in nature can be drawn on for deep inquiry in the classroom. We see this form of learning as being accessible for all children; shining the spotlight on understanding and demonstrating knowledge through experiential learning.
If interested in professional development opportunities for teachers on nature awareness education or to visit the Forest School program, please contact Kendra Martin at Little Falls Public School.
