Letter to The Editor – Re: Brighter Futures Ministry

Dear Editor,

I just noticed an ad on your site that referred to an organization called the “Brighter Futures Ministry” that is having a dinner to raise funds to apparently “provide essential services to the community”. They also state that “The ministry is a resource and support centre to young parents and pregnant teenagers”.

Since I have never heard of this ministry before, I would appreciate any information from readers or organizers that may shed some light on some questions that I have regarding this organization.

Exactly what essential services are these raised funds going to be used for?

Are they used for administrative salaries, food, shelter, clothing, education?

How are these funds distributed and who exactly decides who gets what?

Is this a non profit organization and run by volunteers or paid staff?

What is the age range that these services are available to and what residents are they available to?

Are there any specific requirements that one must have in order to qualify to get help/service/support etc.?

What type of background, education, and training does staff have in order to support and be a resource for young parents and pregnant teenagers?

Anyone who can answer these questions would help me make a decision as to whether or not I would feel that this organization deserves my support.

Sincerely,

Mrs. B. DesJardin
