2014 marks 100 years since the beginning of the 1st World War. The long 4 year struggle took the lives of more ten million soldiers from over 30 countries, including 61,000 Canadians. The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was over 37 million. It was an event that not only changed Canada, but the rest of the world. Since then, each year, we have honoured the brave men and woman who gave their lives for our country in conflicts around the world on Remembrance Day.
