(Grey County, ON.) – Grey County OPP, under the direction of CIB Inspector Scott Thomson is now in a position to identify the suspect charged in connection with the death of a woman on Friday afternoon (July 2nd, 2010).
Just after 4 pm on July 2nd, 2010 Grey County OPP officers responded to a report of persons struck by a farm tractor on a farm situated on Highway 6 & 10 in Chatsworth Township, just north of the village of Chatsworth. Chatsworth is located approximately 15 kilometres south of Owen Sound.
Sareena DENESIUK, 26 years, of Adjala-Tosorontio Township died from injuries sustained. A post mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted at London Health Sciences on Sunday July 4th, 2010.
A second female, April SMITH, 27 years, of Chatsworth Township sustained life threatening injuries and remains in serious condition at a London hospital.
Charged with Second Degree Murder and Attempt Murder is 48 year-old Laurie PORTEOUS of Chatsworth Township. He remains is custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice-Owen Sound on Monday, July 5th, 2010.
Grey County OPP can say with confidence that this is an isolated incident. The investigation under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch is continuing.
