VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO CRIMINAL CHARGES
(ST. MARY’S, ON) – On Saturday, November 17, 2012 shortly after 9:00 p.m. officers on patrol were alerted to an U-Haul van travelling suspiciously in the area of several businesses in the west end of St. Mary’s.
Officers located and stopped the vehicle after it pulled into a residential laneway. Officers spoke to the occupants of the vehicle and were able to determine they were in possession of break-in tools and were trespassing at night.
As a result of the investigation, officers arrested both occupants inside the vehicle.
The driver, Patrick WHITE (38) from Sarnia, has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:
Trespass at night
Possession of break-in tools
Breach of Probation
Drive while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
WHITE is currently in custody with his next court appearance set for November 26, 2012.
The passenger, Laura DENNIS (25) from Sarnia, has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:
Trespass at night
Possession of break-in tools
DENNIS was released from custody with a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on January 7, 2013.
