(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service along with partners, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) held RIDE Program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) in the late evening & overnight hours of October 11, 2013.
Approximately 3,000 vehicles were stopped and one person was charged with Impaired driving and another one was charged with Refusing to provide a breath sample. Three drivers were given warnings while another received a suspension.
The RIDE Program also yielded 22 tickets for various traffic offenses including seatbelts, lights, one ticket for a Liquor License Act offense and two warnings for drug offenses.
Ottawa Police Inspector Mike Callaghan noted that: The feedback from the public was very positive and very encouraging and the consensus was that they would like to see more joint RIDE initiatives like this one.” “
