Waterloo Region, Ontario – Following a forensic post mortem conducted yesterday in Hamilton, Waterloo Regional Police and the Coroner’s office have confirmed that the discovery of a woman’s body along the Grand River on Friday was a homicide.
On Friday September 20, 2013, just after 7:30am, police responded to a park area near Tyson Drive in the Bridgeport section of Kitchener after a passer by discovered the body of a woman along the riverbank.
The deceased has been identified as Mary Anne May, 55 years, of Kitchener.
Police are now focused on determining her last known whereabouts and contacts. Witnesses may have observed vehicles or persons along Tyson Drive in the early morning hours of Friday, September 20th. The cause of death is being withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation. A media officer will be available at the front entrance to Waterloo Regional Police Headquarters at 3 p.m. today, however it is not anticipated that any further substantive details will be released.
