Kitchener Male Faces Manslaughter Charge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – On November 9, 2013 at approximately 8:16pm, emergency services responded to a reported assault at an apartment on Duke Street East in Kitchener.

An adult male was located inside the residence and transported to Grand River Hospital for treatment of facial injuries after being struck by a drinking glass.

A 34 year old Kitchener male, known to the victim, was arrested at the scene and charged with the assault. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a January, 2014 court date.

The victim was subsequently transported to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto when his condition deteriorated suddenly.

On November 13, 2013, the victim died while in the hospital, and homicide investigators were notified.

The deceased man is identified as Babiker Moustafa , 56 years, of Kitchener. A post mortem examination has been scheduled on November 15, 2013 to confirm the cause of death.

The Kitchener male initially arrested for the assault, is now back in police custody charged with Manslaughter. He is scheduled for a show cause hearing on November 14, 2013 in Kitchener.
