On December 15, 2016, the Hamilton Police Service received a report concerning a general contractor that had been located online and hired to install hardwood flooring. While at the residence, the contractor stole blank cheques belonging to the homeowner, which he subsequently forged and used.
Over the course of the investigation, a second homeowner was identified as being victimized in the same manner.
On Wednesday February 8, 2017, owner/operator of Southern Flooring and De’South Flooring, Dennis RODRIGUEZ (27 years old) of Kitchener, was arrested and bail opposed for multiple counts of theft under $5000, possession under $5000, use forged document and fraud under $5000.
Due to the nature of his actions, it is believed that there may be additional victims who have not yet contacted the Hamilton Police Service.
