KERR Arrested On Lucknow Line For Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – On Saturday July 09, 2016, shortly before 10 p.m., a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a fast moving GMC Sierra on Lucknow Line. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the Sierra. The male driver was spoken to, at which point the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. A roadside breath test was administered and the driver registered a “fail”. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

38-year-old Gary KERR of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Twp. has been charged with “operate motor vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol in blood”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He has a court appearance scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on August 22, 2016, where he will answer to the charge. He was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

With all the messaging and examples of how dangerous impaired driving is, it is unacceptable that the act still happens. The Huron County OPP will continue their patrols as well as regular RIDE programs, in an attempt to stop these drivers and maintain safe roadways in our communities. The public is encouraged to report impaired and erratic drivers. Calls can be made to police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
