Keith Jock Wickliffe – Blackmailing Young Girls

A review was recently conducted into duties performed within the Cyber Crime Unit and to more accurately reflect the current mandate and responsibilities of the unit, it has been renamed the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.

In May 2013, members of the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit of the London Police Service started an internet luring investigation as a result of a complaint received from a 16-year-old female living in London, Ontario. The female victim began communicating with an unknown male online and was convinced to share inappropriate images of herself. He then made attempts to extort the victim into performing sexually explicit acts online. The victim refused to cooperate and the London Police Service was contacted.

The members of the ICE unit were able to obtain the suspect’s information and learned that he was residing in New Zealand. The London Police Service notified the authorities in New Zealand, and in November of 2014, they executed a search warrant at the home of Keith Jock Wickliffe. He was arrested and subsequently charged with blackmail offences in New Zealand in relation to the London, Ontario investigation. There were two additional young female victims also identified, who were both residents of New Zealand.

London Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the internet. The Strategy has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
