(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) On Saturday May 18, 2013, at approximately 12:00pm County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a male 19 year old kayaker that was overturned in Belwood Lake, Centre Wellington Township. The kayaker who was wearing his approved life jacket fell out after hitting a wave and was unable to get himself back into the boat. Friends attempted to assist him but could not get the male out of the water and into their canoe. It was estimated that he was in the cold water for about 20 minutes until another boater could get him safely into a boat. He was brought ashore and treated by Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the scene.
