(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On June 7, 2016 at approximately 4:50 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2002 Dodge Ram pick-up truck that had just been stolen from a residence on Grey Road 3 in the Township of Chatsworth.
While investigating the theft of the truck, police came upon a 1998 Honda Prelude abandoned nearby, with the keys inside, and found that this vehicle had been stolen very recently from a residence on Grey Road 40 in the Township of Chatsworth.
While patrolling the area, police observed the stolen pick-up truck being driven recklessly through a farmer’s field on the Dutch Line in the Municipality of West Grey by unknown person(s). The vehicle continued travelling through several fields before it became disabled at the rear of a property on Hwy. 6. A female suspect associated to the stolen truck was arrested at the scene. The second suspect, a male, had fled the scene on a stolen Kawasaki All-Terrain Vehicle in an attempt to elude police. The male abandoned the ATV a short time later and fled on foot.
Police contained the area and, with the assistance of the Wellington County Canine Unit, the suspect was apprehended while attempting to break into a property on Concession 4 in the Township of Chatsworth.
Both subjects were held for bail hearings scheduled on June 8, 2016.
