Joshua Smith – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) On Thursday January 12, 2012 at approximately 7:45 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer was dispatched to a traffic complaint involving a vehicle with a possible impaired driver, south of Sebringville.

The officer came upon the suspect vehicle as it was travelling south bound in the north bound lane on Road 134. The vehicle stopped directly in front of the north bound police cruiser which had all of its emergency lights activated. The officer spoke to the driver who displayed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville, where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

Joshua Smith (24) of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with “impaired operation of a motor vehicle” and with “operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood”. He is scheduled to appear in Stratford Court on February 13, 2012 to answer to these charges. He was issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
