Josephine Collision Update: Wingham Police Information Blackout – Police Service Board Meeting Tonight

Many of our long time readers probably remember the battle to get
the Wingham Police to start issuing regular press releases.
After months and months of heated debate, the Wingham Police finally
agreed to keep the Public informed via a FaceBook page, a far cry
from issuing press releases, but better than silence.  The
Wingham police respond to over 100 calls for service a month.
Currently the Public only gets about one PR a month from the Wingham
Police Service, leaving the Citizenry in the dark when it comes to
the true scope of crime in our Community.

At last night’s council meeting, a Reporter confronted council about
the difficulty in getting in contact with the Wingham Police
regarding the collision on Josephine Street.  Allegedly the
Reporter has been calling the Wingham Police every hour, trying to
get the information with zero luck.

The Wingham Police did not even alert the Public to the collision,
the road closure, road opening, or ANY information regarding the
collision.  Since the Wingham Police Service choose FaceBook to
disseminate information, they can issue instant updates to the
Public via smartphone from anywhere, and in less than a minute.

Police Service Board Meeting Tonight

The Public is welcome to meeting at the Wingham Police station 7:00
tonight (16Sept2014).

If the Wingham Police do not see fit to keep the Public informed,
maybe it’s time to switch to a service that respects the Public’s
right to be informed.
