Joseph KLUMPER – Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – A 60-year-old male from Mitchell is facing charges following a traffic stop that took place yesterday morning in Huron County. At 10:40 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about a possible impaired driver. Upon receiving the information officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle, a grey 4-door Nissan sedan. Approximately five minutes later officers located the suspect vehicle travelling eastbound out of Clinton.

Officers followed the vehicle a short distance whereupon they initiated a traffic stop to assess the condition of the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed which resulted in the driver registering a fail. He was then placed under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. A search was then conducted which resulted in officers locating open alcohol inside the vehicle.

The driver was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 60-year-old Joseph KLUMPER from Mitchell has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 7, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle he was driving has now been impounded for the week.
