(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) Early Tuesday morning, October 14, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a residential break and enter along Line 37 north of Stratford. The break-in occurred during the night and was discovered by the homeowners in the morning when items from inside the residence were found to be missing. A bicycle was also stolen from the property.
Officers checked other residences in the area of the break-in, and spotted the stolen bicycle at a nearby unoccupied farm house. It was discovered that the farmhouse had been forcibly entered. A male suspect and stolen property from the initial break-in were located inside the farmhouse as well as suspected marihuana.
Further investigation determined that a vehicle at a nearby residence had also been entered overnight and items from inside had been removed by the male suspect.
Joseph CLUETT (19) of North Middlesex was arrested and has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Theft under $5000
– Trespass by night (X2)
– Break, enter a place
– Break, enter dwelling house
– Theft over $5000
– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
– Fail to comply with probation
– Mischief under $5,000
He has also been charged with, possession of marihuana over 30 grams, in contravention of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
He has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Stratford Ontario Court of Justice on October 20, 2014, to answer to these charges.
