(HURON EAST, ON) – On November 2, 2012 just before 9:00 p.m. a green Chrysler 2000 entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint on Brussels Line near Cranbrook Road. Officers spoke with the male driver and noted he had been drinking alcohol. Officers also observed open alcohol inside the car.
The driver failed a roadside test and later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician. Both tests were over the legal limit.
Jonathan ENGEL, age 26, from Huron East has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. He has a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on December 3, 2012. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
