John Dasilva – Drunk Driving – Collision with Stationary Vehicle

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) Shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon April 20, 2010, Perth County OPP officers in Listowel were dispatched to a two vehicle collision at the Intersection of Wallace Ave.S. and Main St.E.

Investigation into the crash revealed that a pickup truck was stopped at the stop light controlled intersection. This truck was struck from behind by a north bound pickup truck. While speaking to the driver of the second pickup truck, the investigating officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The officer administered a roadside breath test which the driver failed. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel where he refused to provide breath into the Intoxilyzer.

John Dasilva (52) of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with failing to provide breath samples. Further checks revealed that the accused was disqualified from driving which resulted in his truck being impounded for 45 days. He is to appear in Listowel court on May 19th 2010 to answer to these two criminal charges.

The driver of the first vehicle was treated and released from the Listowel Memorial Hospital for the minor injuries sustained as a result of the collision.
