(GODERICH, ON) – A 34 year old female driver from Goderich is facing an Over 80 charge following a traffic stop on November 29, 2014. Just before 12:30 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) program when they noticed a Toyota Corolla turn off just before the R.I.D.E checkpoint. An officer followed the vehicle and subsequently stopped the driver at the intersection of East Street and Maitland Road North.
A sobriety check was completed which revealed the female driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. She was arrested and subsequently transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. She provided two samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 34 year old Jennifer GERDAN from Goderich has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 5, 2015. She received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
