Jeffrey DeJong & David Spalding – Drunk Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Thursday August 12, 2010 after 8 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer was conducting radar patrol on Perth Line 86 West of Listowel. A motorcycle was stopped for speeding. While speaking to the motorcyclist the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A roadside breath test was conducted which the motorcyclist failed. He was transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel where the two breath tests were administered. The results of these tests were in excess of .80 mgs. on the Intoxilyzer.

Jeffrey DeJong (51) from Huron East is charged with operating a motor vehicle having in excess of eighty milligrams of blood alcohol in one hundred millilitres of blood. He is to appear in criminal court at the Atwood Community Centre on September 08, 2010 to answer to this charge. He was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension.

On Friday August 13, 2010 at approximately 1:30 a.m. a Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Elizabeth St. East of Wallace Ave. in Listowel. The officer spoke with the driver and detected signs of impairment. The driver was transported to the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel where two breath tests were administered. Both breath tests were in excess of .80 mgs. on the Intoxilyzer.

David Spalding (47) from Toronto was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and having in excess of eighty milligrams of blood alcohol in one hundred millilitres of blood. He is to appear in criminal court at the Atwood Community Centre on September 22, 2010 to answer to these charges. He was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension.
