Jason Steven – Street Racing – Alcohol – Vehicle Impounded

(Howick Twp., ON) On September 17, 2009 at approximately 7:30 am a Huron OPP officer was operating moving radar west bound on Perth Road 178 when a pick up truck was observed traveling at a high rate of speed east bound. The radar was activated and the reading confirmed that the vehicle was traveling over 50 kph above the posted speed limit of 80 kph.

The officer initiated a traffic stop. The 18 year old driver, Jason Steven of Howick Township, was charged under the Street Racing Legislation. The young man was also in possession of alcohol and was charged with Person Under 19 Years Having Liquor. The truck he was operating was impounded for 7 days and his licence has been suspended for 7 days.
