(HURON EAST, ON) A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check located on Huron Street at Morrison Line resulted in a 47 year old male being arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. At 11:00 p.m. on July 27, 2013 the driver of a green Chevrolet Blazer entered the R.I.D.E checkpoint. Upon speaking with the driver officers detected the odour of an illegal drug coming from inside the vehicle. In addition, officers observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and a search of the driver and vehicle were completed. A quantity of suspected marihuana was located inside the vehicle.
Jamie LESPERANCE (47) from South Huron has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 4 (1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on September 9, 2013 to answer to the charge.
