On November 9, 2017 members of the Guelph Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Technological Crimes Unit executed a Search Warrant on a single family dwelling in the south end of Guelph. A variety of computer systems and digital devices were seized as a result. Further investigation into these items resulted in the arrest of Jacob Baranski 42 years of Guelph on November 24, 2017. Mr. Baranski was charged with accessing child pornography, distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He was released with a court date in January 2018.
