On July 14, 2015 at 12:23 p.m., the Guelph Police observed a male on a bicycle ride through a red light at Stevenson Street and Elizabeth Street. Police conducted a traffic stop with the cyclist, who had to use his feet to stop due to insufficient brakes. Further investigation determined that the bicycle was stolen and the male was arrested. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a quantity of Herion.
Ivan Brekalo, 44 years of Waterloo has been charged with possession of stolen property, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with improper brakes on a bicycle and red light – fail to stop. He will appear in court on August 25, 2015.
