(GODERICH, ON) – On March 8, 2011 at approximately 3:30 pm, a concerned member of the public called the Huron OPP to report a male walking out on the ice near the Lighthouse Cove Trailer Park. Officers went to the location and when the man returned to shore he was arrested for Public Intoxication. The 41 year old Stratford man was lodged at the Huron OPP Detachment cells until he sobered up and he left with a ticket for Public Intoxication and a ticket for Having Open Liquor in Other Than Licenced Premise.
This is a very dangerous time for people to be out on the ice. We are facing tragedies in this area of the province. We do not want to see any more. Of note, the day after this incident, all ice was gone from the shore due to an east wind. The ice is not secure and should be avoided at all costs.
