(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce OPP is sending a warning to area residents about the International Powerball Lottery scam. The Powerball headquarters is listed in the United Kingdom and the “lucky†eligible email prize recipients are supposedly selected using random number combinations from a draw. In order to become eligible for the $2,400,000 British Pound jackpot, you must send a return email listing your personal information including: name, address, age, sex and passport number.
The key is to recognize a scam for what it is and never respond to it. “How do you win a lottery that you didn’t buy a ticket for?†“How do you claim a prize when you didn’t enter a contest in the first place?†If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.
