(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – On January 5th, 2012 at 1:48 pm, the South Bruce OPP received a report of an attempted scam from a resident of Teeswater. A letter from “Investment Services Limited†was received advising of a $15.5 million dollar inheritance that could be claimed. The scammer will then ask for your personal information including your bank account for “deposit†of the funds. This attempt was correctly identified as a scam and no response was sent. The South Bruce OPP is sending another reminder to residents that documents can’t be trusted at face value. Technology allows scammers to be more creative as they develop their con. Some will even use a legitimate organization to gain your trust as they attempt to steal your money. Don’t hand over your hard earned money to a con artist.
