On Sunday, December 28, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a citizen contacted the London Police Service to report that a red Saturn had struck an unattended parked vehicle in the area of Emery Street East and High Street, and had fled the scene.
Officers attended to investigate and noted significant damage to the parked vehicle. While on scene the vehicle returned and subsequently struck the front end of a parked police cruiser. An officer was occupying the drivers seat of the cruiser at the time of the collision and received minor injuries.
The accused was subsequently arrested and transported to the hospital for minor injuries. After being released from the hospital he was transported to police headquarters.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old John Sharpe of London, has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section
253(1)(a)
-one count of failing to provide a breath sample, contrary to section 254(5)
-one count of failing to remain at the scene of a collision, contrary to section 252(1.1)
