Impaired Driver Loses Control And Truck Box Cap Near Teviotdale

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Thursday June 30, 2016, shortly after 1 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of Perth Road 140 and Line 90 (South of Teviotdale).

Investigation indicated that a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck on Concession 8 entered the intersection of Perth Road 140 at a high rate of speed, nearly missing other vehicles. The pickup lost control in the intersection leaving the roadway and impacting onto a property on the North West corner of the intersection. The impact caused the truck box cap to come off. The truck spun around leaving the scene in a north bound direction on Perth Road 140. A short time later police located the vehicle as well as the male driver at a residence in Mapleton Township.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Wellington OPP Detachment in Teviotdale where breath tests were administered. The driver failed the tests and was subsequently charged.

51-year-old Kevin E HILL of Mapleton Township has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Dangerous operation of motor vehicle.

Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol and drug).

Care or control over 80 mgs.

He has also been charged with, “fail to remain”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

He is scheduled to appear at the Listowel Court of Justice on August 24, 2016, to answer to these charges. He was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
