Occurrence Type: Impaired Driver Hits Parked Car

On Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 1:30 a.m. police attended Napier Street, in the City of Barrie after receiving reports of a car on fire.
A 29-year-old Barrie male had been impaired by drug while operating his vehicle, and as a result lost control and crashed into a vehicle parked on Napier Street. Within minutes of the collision the parked vehicle burst into flames.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Barrie Police Station. He now faces a 90-day licence suspension, 7-day vehicle impoundment and is to appear in a Barrie court in May.
