Impaired Driver Found Parked In Traffic In St.Marys

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Monday June 13, 2016, shortly after 4:30 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the area of Road 120 East of St.Marys in response to a suspicious vehicle and person.

The suspicious vehicle, described as a Mini Cooper, had been observed parked in a live lane of traffic on Road 120. A male was seen in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Around 5 p.m. a Perth County OPP officer located the Mini Cooper parked on Road 125 North of St.Marys. The officer spoke with the male occupying the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The officer made determinations that the male displayed signs of impairment. The male was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

34-year-old John Robert Michael MCCUTCHEN of Woodstock has been charged with “care and control while impaired/motor vehicle”, and “care and control over 80 mgs”, Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear at the Stratford Court of Justice on Monday July 04, 2016, to answer to these charges. He was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

The Perth County OPP urges the public to report suspected impaired drivers immediately. Call the respective police agency where the offence is occurring.
