Impaired Driver Found In Ditch On Morrison Line – Name Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – This past week started off rather poorly for one female driver from Huron County. Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about a possible impaired driver stuck in a ditch on Morrison Line near Rodgerville Road.

A short while later the investigating officer arrived on scene and located a Chevrolet Malibu stuck in the ditch. Upon speaking with the female driver the investigating officer observed signs that led the officer to believe she was impaired by a drug. As a result, the driver was arrested and then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) evaluated the driver and formed the opinion the driver was impaired by a drug.

As a result, the driver, Amanda KOWALL, 43 years of age from Hensall has been charged with Impaired Operation by Drug. She has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 30, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter. Her motor vehicle has been impounded and she also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
