Impaired Driver Facing Hit And Run and Trafficking Charges

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) –On February 10, 2016 at 11:53 p.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a motor vehicle collision involving a pick-up truck, on Centre Road in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

A 2003 red GMC Sierra pick-up truck was driving northbound on Centre Road when it left the roadway colliding with a hydro pole.

The driver, Jesse PORTER, age 31, was located in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula and subsequently charged with two counts of Failing to Comply with a Recognizance, Failing to Stop at the Scene of an Accident and with Careless Driving. He is being held for a bail hearing for February 16, 2016 to answer to the charges.

Additionally, PORTER was charged on February 4, 2016, by Grey County OPP for Impaired Driving (by Drug); Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Heroin), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine); Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Heroin) and Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Heroin), under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 3, 2016 to answer to the charges.
