Impaired Driver Ditches Vehicle Then Tries To Flee Scene – Name Released

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On Sunday April 2, 2017 shortly after 5:00 p.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a white Mitsubishi car that had gone into the ditch at the intersection of Perth Line 26 and Perth Road 109 in the Township of Perth East. The driver was observed leaving the scene of the collision on foot.

Officers located the male in a nearby bush area and arrested him for the offence of impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville for breath tests. He later provided samples of his breath into an Intoxilyzer and registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 49-year-old Cameron MYERS from Stratford has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 18, 2017. He also received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
