(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 59 year old male driver is facing charges of Impaired Driving and Fail to Provide Breath Sample after police encountered the driver attempting to free his stuck pickup from a steep ditch. Just before 5:00 p.m. on December 4, 2014 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a group of people attempting to pull out a GMC Sierra pickup truck that went off the roadway into the south ditch at the intersection of Black Bush Line and Crediton Road.
Upon speaking with the driver police observed signs the driver had been drinking alcohol to the point his ability to drive had been impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and upon searching the vehicle officers located an open bottle of alcohol.
The driver was subsequently transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver was given several opportunities to provide suitable samples of his breath to the Intoxilizer Technician however he failed to do so.
As a result, 59 year old Murray INSLEY from Ailsa Craig has been charged with Impaired Driving and Fail to Provide Breath Sample. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on January 29, 2015. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension. His motor vehicle was safely towed from the ditch and impounded for seven days.
