(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A 35-year-old driver from Central Huron has been charged with Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired following his arrest earlier this week.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a vehicle parked on the shoulder of London Road near St. Michaels Road. A witness noticed the vehicle was damaged and the driver appeared to be slumped behind the wheel.
Upon arrival officers located a damaged Chrysler Intrepid along with a male driver that was displaying several signs that he was impaired by a drug. He was placed under arrest and a demand was made to the driver for him to be further evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). The driver was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment and the DRE evaluated the driver and formed the expert opinion the driver was impaired by a drug.
As a result, Joseph SYKES, 35 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drug. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for June 19, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
